2010 James Tait Black Memorial Prize Winner

The 2010 James Tait Black Memorial Prize winner was announced during the Edinburgh International Book Festival and the winner is:

A S Byatt for The Children’s Book

Professor Colin Nicholson, who judged the prize for fiction, speaking of his decision to award the James Tait Black Memorial Prize to Byatt, said;

“the intellectual scope of her imagination, the intellectual subtlety of her research,” set The Children’s Book apart. “These [characters] don’t live on the page; they walk off the page and grab us by the scruff of the neck.”
