Stephen King’s Under the Dome

Stephen King’s Under the Dome was released in November of 2009 and currently sits at the top of the New York Times Best Seller List for hardcover fiction.  This is its first week on the list but it has claimed top spot.

Under the Dome is about people and how they behave when they have been cut off from the society of which they have always been a part.  This particular novel is King’s third attempt to use this idea for a story.  His first and second attempts were made in the late 70s and early 80s under the titles: The Cannibals and then Under the Dome.  Publishers Weekly’s review of the novel has described it as “formidably complex and irresistibly compelling”, it has also been described as having the themes and ideas of King’s earlier fiction, so if you’re a King fan, especially of his early work – you might not want to miss this one.
